You will gain gain conceptual knowledge about why we perform mathematical procedures and where those procedures came from. "I can not say enough about this course! It is the only course Ive ever taken that modeled best practices for education. As a student, I was engaged in meaningful, experiential learning and could use that experience to turn around and teach my students. It was engaging, research-based, and highly relevant to our work."
"This course challenges you to think about the way you teach students mathematics. Assumptions must be replaced by knowledge and facts"Steven Dellinger-Pate
"I am writing this message as feedback for a recent training I attended with a few of my teachers. The PD was called Instructional leadership Toolkit: Science Strand. I have been to many trainings over the years that were good, but the combination of the first day's information and the second day's class observations really worked for my teachers. Each of the 3 who were there for the second day has not only embraced several of the practices, but they have willingly shared their practice with other teachers. Not surprisingly, the biggest impact is with the students. Teachers are reporting that students who often had a difficult time with science in the past are now more successful. The organization of the instructional sequence, the anchoring event, the public notes, and even the giant white boards have all moved our science teaching forward. I would sincerely like to thank you for this quality PD and hope we can attend more in the future."Lois Michaud, CNSU Science Coach
"This class has made me think of teaching writing in a whole new light. I have shifted my thinking from teaching writing genres and the writing process to one of teaching writers. This is so powerful, I think it will result in positive outcomes for my students. This is by far the best class I have ever taken"Leah Griggs
