Julie Conrad, Mathematics Coordinator at the Vermont Department of Education and Judi Laird, Mathematics Consultant will join Vermont educators to focus on understanding the learning progression of measurement, data and statistics in the Common Core State Standards.
The Common Core State Standards of Mathematics require educators to:

-FOCUS on a few important mathematical concepts.

-Create COHERENCE in their curriculum from one topic to the next as well as

from one grade level to the next.

-Increase the RIGOR of student mathematical thinking by asking them to apply

their learning in multiple and novel ways.
The Progressions of Standards as well as the Learning Progressions allow teachers to understand how to teach at a greater depth and at the readiness level of each of their students.
Measurement, Data and Statistics offer a unique opportunity for us to look at how these mathematical ideas can deepen and enhance student understanding of number and its applications from Kindergarten to High School. Educators will spend the day engaging in deep understanding of the content standards as well as how the students develop proficiency in the Mathematical Practices throughout their learning.
