Play Therapy Seminar
In the course, Play Therapy Seminar, participants will examine play therapy techniques for use with a variety of populations. Participants will reflect on their own practice of play therapy and develop appropriate therapeutic interventions for children. This course will include:
- hands-on experience with a variety of techniques and modalities
- course readings
- and written assignments.
Participants will be required to complete a final project that will reflect best practice of play therapy as it applies to their current counseling setting. This course is designed for practicing school counselors, clinical therapists, child development specialists and graduate interns in counseling. This course is offered in conjunction with the Play Therapy Associates of Vermont a Continuing Education Provider for the Association for Play Therapy, APT provider # 07-214. Thirty-seven and one-half (37 ½ ) hours of continuing education credits will be offered to students who attend all classes and complete all assignments.
About the Instructor
Wendy Monahan, M.S., is the School Counselor at Stowe Elementary, Co-Founder of Play Therapy Associates of Vermont and a Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor (RPT – S). As a guidance counselor for the past 14 years, she has counseled students individually and in small groups. Wendy has demonstrated her commitment to providing in-depth and meaningful training in play therapy by teaching at the graduate level and providing a series of workshops with Play Therapy Associates of Vermont which are well attended and highly regarded. She has adapted play therapy techniques to fit the challenges of school schedules, diverse groupings and the unique demands of a school setting.
