The Polarity Management framework and principles provide a practical set of resources for dealing with all polarities in life. Polarities are ongoing, chronic issues which are both unavoidable and unsolvable. Attempting to address them through customary problem-solving only makes things worse. These paradoxical situations are not problems to solve; they are polarities to be managed. Leaders, teams and organizations that learn to distinguish between the two and deal productively with both can consciously use diversity and divergent thinking as resources for developing highly productive collaborative communities that promote student learning. This work provides opportunities for understanding and practicing the Polarity Management model and tools and exploring connections and applications to participants’ work settings.
“Some complex problems simply do not have “solutions.” The key to being an effective leader is being able to recognize and manage such problems. Polarity Management presents a unique model and set of principles that will challenge you to look at situations in new ways.” – Barry Johnson, author of Polarity Management
